Weak Showing For Private and HDB Rental Markets In September

According to flash data released by SRX Property, rental rates for non-landed private homes and HDB homes saw a dip in September coming in from August. There was a 0.1% decrease for apartment and condominium rents and a 0.9% drop for HDB rentals month-on-month.

The number of homes rented in September also decreased with 12.6% less non-landed private homes rented, from 4,345 in August to 3,799 in September. The volume of HDB homes rented also dipped by 1.6%.

The rental rates for private apartments and condominiums were at the peak in January 2013 and there was a 19.2% dip in September 2017. HDB rents were at their highest in August 2013 and compared to the rates recorded then, there was a 14.7% drop in September 2017.
